Teune family DNA project begun. Teune, Teunen, Thöne, Thönen

I have finally begun our Teune Family Tree DNA Project here:

Teune family DNA Surname project USA, Netherlands and Switzerland. Anyone with the same or related surname (Teune, Teunen, Thöne, Thönen, Dönen, Theune) is welcome to join this project.

We are beginning with the Teune family in America, then we will progress back to the Teune family in the Netherlands and see how far back we can find participants of both the Teune and Swiss Thöne family trees.

This is a Y-DNA testing project which means it tests direct male descendents of the Teune/Thöne line. I suggest the least expensive option of the 12 marker test ($99) (we receive a discount off of the normal $149 price as this is a group project).

*IMPORTANT* Due to the potentially sensitive nature of this project all information is strictly *confidential* and will never be published without the express consent of the individual participant.

Every participant will receive his own results and a certificate indicating his near and distant origins. He may also choose to have his results published on the Teune.com website or the Family Tree DNA Teune projectc page to confirm existing geneology records.

I have ordered my kit to be the first to be tested. Then we can work on more and more distant cousins and see how far we get.

We have already found a distant relative who's DNA matches almost exactly.
His family emmigrated to the US in the 1700s and the English transliteration of the original German ended up being Teaney, which is pretty close to a mispronunciation of the German Thone.
